Today is Primary Election Day in Texas, and it’s also Super Tuesday—the day when the largest number of states and territories will hold a presidential preference primary or caucus. Join your fellow Texans and Americans by getting out to vote!

Remember that voting is the single most important way to ensure Texas will have pro-public education legislators working in the best interest of you and your students. On TeachtheVote.org, your ATPE lobby team broke down why March 3 matters so much in Texas. Read part one and part two.

Find information on voting, including your polling location, via the Texas Secretary of State’s My Voter Page. You can also contact your county clerk. For more information about the election, including sample ballots and what you need to bring with you to the polls, visit votetexas.gov.

Here are some other helpful resources to get you ready for the ballot box:
  • Learn more about candidates running in 2020 for the Texas Legislature or State Board of Education by checking out their profiles on ATPE's Teach the Vote, which includes candidates’ answers to the ATPE Candidate Survey (when available) and legislators’ voting records.
  • Need help finding information about the candidates on Teach the Vote? Watch our instructional video narrated by ATPE Senior Lobbyist Monty Exter.
  • Visit TexasEducatorsVote.com for election resources, advice, and voting reminders.
  • Use Vote411.org to build a personalized ballot you can print out and take with you to the polls. (You’re not permitted to use your cell phone while voting.)
Don’t forget to share these resources with your colleagues and friends. Only by coming together and acting as one voice can we truly advocate for public education! Make a plan to vote, and make your voice heard!
