Welcome to another edition of our volunteer recognition program, Volunteer of the Month. Do you know an ATPE member who goes above and beyond the call of duty in both their commitment to ATPE and
public education? Send us their name and they just might be featured!
Meet May’s Volunteer of the Month, Patsy Bulos!
How long have you been an educator?
I am a retired educator. I worked for El Paso ISD and was in the education profession for 33 years. I’ve been a member of ATPE for about 30 years.
Why did you choose to become a member of ATPE?
My best friend Trini Mendoza invited me to join.
What made you want to be an educator?
Being a daughter of immigrants, I wanted to make a difference for children like myself and show that learning a second language is powerful. I encouraged my students to dream big and taught them that with hard work, they can accomplish those dreams.
Share your favorite moment as an educator.
My favorite part of being an educator was knowing that every day when students walked in to my classroom, I had the opportunity to make their learning experiences successful.
What’s your favorite Texas vacation?
West Texas and the beautiful mountain range that ends in El Paso and begins in Mexico. I love going to delicious Mexican food restaurants!
Share something fun about yourself.
I love to embroider pillowcases for my grandchildren.
