Dear Fellow Region 11 ATPE Members,
Happy Valentine’s Day to you all! I hope this month brings you lots of love and joy with your friends, family, students, and co-workers.
February is an exciting month for ATPE! February 24-25, 2019 is ATPE at the Capitol in Austin. This is your chance to let your voice be heard. Each Region 11 local unit attending will receive $150 from the region. I cannot wait to see all those that registered on February 24th in Austin. If you didn’t register you can still attend. All you need to do is show up and register on-site.
Last month we announced the date for our Region 11 spring meeting; May 4, 2019. Our annual Spring Convention will be held at the beautiful new Aloft Hotel in Downtown Fort Worth. On-Site check in will begin at 9:30 AM and the meeting will be from 10:00-2:00 P.M. with a break for lunch. The cost is $10.00 per member to attend. Please follow the link to register for this event. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30E0544A4A72AA3FC1-spring (Please check with your local unit president to see if they are covering the $10)
The theme for our Spring Meeting this year is “May the 4th be with you!” since it will be taking place on Stars Wars day! We are offering local units opportunities to sponsor certain items at the Spring Meeting such as table décor, desserts, beverages, signage, etc. If your local unit would like to participate in this wonderful sponsorship opportunity, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Region 11 Educator of the Year competition: Click here for details.
Please follow the attached guidelines. Applying for Region Educator of the year DOES NOT automatically enter you for the state contest, please visit ATPE.org for state level guidelines.
Local unit officers, please note the new requirement from the state to add a dissolution clause to all local unit bylaws. Feel free to reach out to myself or Diane Pokluda if you need assistance with this. Since this is due by August 1, you will need to vote on this at your spring meeting.
Please also communicate your time and place for your local unit spring meetings, myself or another region officer would love to attend.
Happy Valentine’s Day,
Region 11 President
