It’s more important than ever for Texas educators to vote this Election Day. When the Texas Legislature convenes this January, the elected officials who win their respective races will tackle demands for addressing our state’s education needs at a time when public schools are facing critical staff shortages, parents want to know their children are safe at school, retired educators are struggling to make ends meet, and privatizers are looking to cash in on taxpayer funding for vouchers.

Polls close at 7 p.m. Even if you’ve already voted, you can still make an impact by sharing these resources with colleagues and friends:

  • Find your polling location. Visit votetexas.gov or contact your county clerk.
  • Research the candidates. Head to ATPE’s Teach the Vote, where you’ll find lawmakers’ education-related voting records and responses to ATPE’s candidate surveys.
  • Build a personalized ballot. Print out a sample ballot at Vote411.org to take with you to the polls.
  • Vote your profession. Find election resources geared specifically toward Texas educators at TexasEducatorsVote.com.

If you haven’t made it to the polls, today is your final opportunity to make your educator voice heard. Texas public schools are counting on you!
