Join #TeachersCan partners, including ATPE, for a weeklong celebration of Texas educators during Teacher Appreciation week, May 4–8.

Tune in live next week for the events described below at TeachersCan.org/events or the @TxTeachersCan Facebook page.
  • Monday is the launch of a series of “Mind, Body & Soul” snacks for educators (but open to everyone) in partnership with Union Fitness and Yoga in San Antonio. These will be short sessions throughout the week ranging from 15 to 45 minutes and designed for participants at all skill levels. Be sure to tune in and try out something new, from meditation and yoga flow to Pilates or Barre classes—there will be a little something for everyone! Cooking demonstrations, makeup and hair tutorials, mini concerts, and more will also be offered.
  • Wednesday turns the focus on all of you lovers of literature with a special conversation and tribute to teachers featuring well-known Texas authors Stephen Harrigan and Lawrence Wright and hosted by Evan Smith, CEO and co-founder of The Texas Tribune. Tune in on the @TXTeachersCan Facebook page and share what you are reading to give you comfort and inspiration during the COVID-19 crisis.
  • On Thursday, get ready to express yourself during Home Is Where the Art Is Day presented by the Texas Cultural Trust. All Texans are invited to create a piece of their own to display in their windows or in their yards with a message of thanks to Texas teachers. Downloadable templates and options on the website will be available, or people can design something of their very own. In addition, Texas artists, ranging from Houston ballerina Lauren Anderson and makeup artist Erica Miles to musicians Ray Benson and The Mrs. Band, will offer their own tributes during short performances scattered throughout the day.
  • Friday closes out the week of appreciation and celebration with a concert broadcast live from the Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels featuring Texas musicians Randy Rogers, Wade Bowen, Parker McCollum, and Sunny Sweeney presented by Shiner. The show will begin at 5 p.m., and fans will have a chance to share their comments and words of encouragement with one another.
In spite of the strange world we find ourselves living in these days, National Teacher Appreciation Week 2020 promises to be a week to remember. Join us!
