The Association of Texas Professional Educators, Texas' largest professional association for public school employees, seeks an experienced, goal-driven, dynamic professional for our West Texas Regional Representative. This territory is from Crockett County in West Texas north to Haskell County and east to Navarro County and South to Val Verde County. (Refer to Texas Education Agency (TEA) Service Center Regions 12, 14 and 15 for regional maps.) Applicants must reside within the territory.

The Regional Representative responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as the primary field staff focused on recruiting and retaining members in the territory assigned. Monitor the activity indicators of active local units using various reports. Identify and proactively assist local units in recruiting new members.
  • Initiate contact with non-members, campus and district personnel, and others, in assigned districts with no active local unit to prospect and promote interest in organizing prospective local units.
  • Work with internal support staff to outline annual metrics and incentive-based numerical goals related to recruitment and retention of members.
  • Work with assigned active local volunteers to identify and train new volunteer leaders who will represent the association at the local district level.

Additionally, the Regional Representative may provide some limited organizational support to assigned local units in the areas of communication, school board relations, and general local unit operational logistics.

Minimum requirements include a college degree along with proven sales experience and the ability to close the sale; superior communication, presentation and organizational skills; and, excellent PC skills (Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook). The ideal candidate will have a broad knowledge of Texas education issues; will be detail oriented with a strong work ethic and will be flexible and comfortable with shifting priorities. The position requires extensive travel within the West Texas territory (see the areas above) and the ability to home office.
