Independent-study CPE
The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) defines independent study as the self-study of relevant professional materials such as books, journals and periodicals; independent study is not to exceed 20 percent of required hours.
Reading the following articles for continuing professional education (CPE) credit qualify as independent study. Be sure to keep your documentation and completed certificates with your other CPE certificates of completion. Do not send them to the ATPE state office.
Full issues of ATPE periodicals
Earn 1 hour of CPE credit for reading the current issue of Essentials.
Earn 1.5 hours of CPE credit for reading each issue of ATPE News.
To document the above independent-study CPE hours, print and complete this certificate.
Archived articles from ATPE periodicals
ATPE does not provide a certificate of completion for archived articles. You must keep a record of all articles read and the amount of time spent reading the articles.
