This CPE unit is worth 1.5 hours credit for certification renewal requirements of the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. CHAPTER 29. EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Subchapter A. Special Education Program
 

  1. Students with a disability between the ages of and are eligible for special education services and a free appropriate public education.
      

  2. Eligible students with disabilities shall enjoy a free appropriate public education, which may include instruction in the regular classroom, instruction through special teaching or instruction through with approved service providers.
       

  3. Before a child is enrolled in a special education program, the school district shall establish a committee for the student and develop an education program.

Subchapter B. Bilingual Education and Special Language Programs 

  1. The definition of a "limited English proficiency" student includes a student whose language is other than English, and whose English skills are such that the student has difficulty performing classwork in English.
      

  2. Each district with an enrollment of or more students of limited English proficiency in any language in the same grade level shall offer a bilingual or special language program.
      

  3. A bilingual program shall be a full-time program of instruction.
