Greetings! Region 12 ATPE is a dynamic ATPE region, spanning 12 counties and home to two former ATPE State Presidents—Larry Davis and Sue Melton—who are both still active with us. Recently, Sue was elected to to the State Board of Education!
We pride ourselves in our commitment to ATPE, whether it be serving on state committees, actively attending Lobby Day and the ATPE Summit, or participating in an ATPE-PAC challenge. Volunteerism runs deep in Region 12.
We hope that you'll be joining us at the 2013 ATPE Summit, July 17–19, at the Austin Convention Center. If you have never before attended, the summit is a great opportunity to see exactly how we, as members, govern our association through the House of Delegates. As an attendee, you'll also have the chance to listen to outstanding speakers, take part in professional learning and ATPE leadership training sessions, and attend other events that will keep you entertained and learning the entire time while allowing you to meet ATPE members (and soon-to-be friends) from all over the state.
If your local unit is in need of financial assistance to attend the summit, both the state office and Region 12 can help. The Region 12 application is located the "Forms & Documents" section below. More information about financial assistance from the state office can be found on the summit website, atpesummit.org. Local unit presidents: Please remember to register your delegates by June 19 to ensure they are certified and able to vote.
Region 12 is proud to have our own Director Julleen Bottoms running for State Treasurer. You'll have the opportunity to meet her and chat during the summit. She'll be the pretty lady, always smiling and ready with a wealth of information, especially about the ATPE Foundation.
The other Region 12 officers and I look forward to seeing each of you at the summit and meeting with you during our region's caucus. Until then, have a wonderful spring semester!
Region 12 ATPE President
