Region 7 ATPE

Welcome

My name is Kimberly Cross and I am your 2012-13 ATPE Region 7 President. I hope that you all have had a wonderful and relaxing summer! As the new school year approaches, I want to give you an update on our new officer team and some of the events that we have planned.

I am so excited to have some of the best members of our Region serving beside me this school year! They are: Director Janie Leath of Nacogdoches ATPE, Vice President Shannon Whitehead of Nacogdoches County ATPE, Secretary Kris Ann Bennett of Tyler ATPE and Treasurer Julie McCullough of Brownsboro-Chandler ATPE.

Our Member Appreciation Luncheon and special election will be held at the Potpourri House in Tyler on September 22. Details for this event will be coming soon! The date has also been set for the Region 7 Convention and officer elections; please plan to join us on April 13 at Papacitas in Longview. Watch your email in March for details on this exciting event.

Many of you are beginning to plan for your New Teacher Orientations and Back to School events. Local presidents have already received boxes with recruitment aids and application packets. The ATPE Region 7 officer team would like to extend our hand to you and offer any help that you might need in making your all your ATPE events a success. Please let us know if you need anything; we will assist you in any way we can.

A few other things to keep in mind as the new school year approaches:

  1. Be a voice on your campus! Focus on those new teachers and help them become a part of the very best professional organization in the state.

  2. Be sure to check the ATPE website (www.atpe.org) for CPE opportunities, advocacy opportunities and other helpful information.

  3. Check out www.teachthevote.org for the latest information on upcoming elections in your area.

I am so excited to be serving you and hope that you will reach out to me and my wonderful team of officers to help you make this year a huge success!
