Welcome to the Web page for Region 3 ATPE! The ATPE volunteers of Region 3 are a wonderful group of educators who share and work together to meet the needs of our members. We believe in the importance of ATPE's priorities, and we work for the success of all of the children we educate. Region 3 is also fortunate to have an important piece of Texas history located here. Presidio La BahÃa, located one mile south of Goliad on Texas U.S. Highway 183, was established in 1749 with Mission Espiritu Santo. The Presidio and the two missions constitute the only surviving example of a Spanish Colonial mission/presidio complex in Texas. The Presidio was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1967. Located near the Presidio is the Fannin Memorial Monument, which was erected and dedicated in 1938. The memorial is located directly over the grave of the Goliad garrison that was massacred by Santa Anna's troops on Palm Sunday, March 27, 1836.
