Welcome
Hello, my name is Monica Hicks-Bailey, and I will be your Region 9 ATPE president for 2010-11. I am a special education teacher at Wichita Falls High School. Region 9 ATPE represents 39 school districts in the 12 counties of the North Texas area located in and around Wichita Falls. The Association of Texas Professional Educators is a nonprofit and member-owned, member-governed professional association. As a state association, it represents more than 115,000 members who are professional, paraprofessional, retired and student educators, in addition to members of the public who are interested in the success of our public schools. ATPE is the largest independent association for public school educators in the nation. Our focal points include protection, advocacy and educational resources for the benefit of public school educators. The regular directors’ meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at Hunan Chinese Restaurant in Wichita Falls. The region board invites all local unit presidents or their representatives to attend and provide input on regional decisions.
