Greetings ATPE members and Region 9 educators! I am Patti Morton Gibbs, and I will be serving as your Region 9 ATPE president for 2011-12. I am a special education counselor for Montague County Special Classes Co-op. My office is located in the Nocona ISD administration building. Region 9 ATPE represents 39 school districts in the 12 counties of the North Texas area located in and around Wichita Falls. If your school district does not currently have an ATPE local unit, please contact me so we can get you on board!

I have been a member of the Association of Texas Professional Educators (ATPE) for 16 years and love the professionalism and representation the organization provides to educators and students of Texas. As a state association, ATPE represents more than 116,000 members who are professional, paraprofessional, retired and student educators, in addition to members of the public who are interested in the success of our public schools. ATPE is the largest independent association for public school educators in the nation. Our focal points include protection, advocacy and educational resources for the benefit of public school educators. Region 9 ATPE board of directors’ meetings are held the first Monday of the month at Hunan Chinese Restaurant in Wichita Falls at 6 p.m. The board invites all local unit presidents, or their representative, to attend and provide input on regional decisions.
