Join ATPE in Celebrating National School Counseling Week
Date Posted: 2/07/2022
Feb. 7 marks the start of National School Counseling Week! Since the 1980s, this week has been a time to highlight school counselors and the extraordinary work they do to support student growth and success. Sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), National School Counseling Week is celebrated the first full week of February.
School counselors provide a wide range of services to students ranging from assisting with academic success to constructing college and career goals. They help students establish healthy habits, mindsets, and behaviors to promote resiliency and growth. School counselors also support students in dealing with adversity, managing emotions, and developing interpersonal skills as they design and administer school counseling programs that adhere to the school’s academic mission.
This year’s theme is “School Counseling: Better Together.” Partnering with counselors in your school can make a huge difference in student behavior and academic achievement, so please join us in honoring the work of school counselors this week by taking the time to thank them for what they do and the impact they continue to make on our students’ education and well-being.
