12–6:30 p.m. ATPE Member Registration and Information
1–2:15 p.m. Opening General Session* with Dr. Don Newbury
Get fired up by our featured guest speaker, learn what not to do at your legislator meetings and possibly win a door prize.
2:30–3:30 p.m.

Political Involvement Training Sessions*
Choose from one of the following exciting sessions:

  • Getting Your Message Across: What Legislators and the Media Want to Hear.
    Learn to craft highly effective messages that will capture the attention of your legislators and garner positive media coverage for ATPE.
     
  • Secrets of Politically Active Local Units.
    ATPE leaders share the secrets of their success in getting members actively involved in politics at the local and state level.
     
  • From You and Me to HOD to Victory.
    Take your legislative ideas from the drawing board to the ATPE Legislative Program and then on to the Governor’s desk.
3:45–4:15 p.m. Live Auction
Take part in this fun event and help raise money for ATPE-PAC, your political action committee.
4:30–5:30 p.m. Closing General Session with Brock Gregg*
Hear about hot education issues and ATPE’s top legislative priorities, get important logistical information and caucus instructions, and possibly win a door prize.
5:45–6:15 p.m. Senate Caucus Meetings*
Meet the rest of your team and plan Monday’s meetings.
*Attendees will earn 3 hours of continuing professional education (CPE) credit.
  
Monday, Jan. 26

7:30 a.m.–4 p.m.

ATPE Member Registration and Information, Shuttle Transportation, Office Visits with Legislators
Take a shuttle from the hotel to the Capitol to meet with legislators, advocate for public education and watch the House and Senate in action. Please note: ATPE will schedule your meeting with your senator, but you need to call your representative to set up an appointment.
