Remember, renew, receive
This summer, don’t forget to update your contact information with the ATPE state office if anything has changed. We don’t want you to miss any important association information. You can update your contact info by visiting atpe.org and clicking on the cream-colored Members: Update Your Contact Information button. You may also e-mail ATPE Member Services or call (800) 777-ATPE to submit updates.
If you’ve changed districts, it’s important to note that your ATPE membership doesn’t transfer with you. You need to let the state office know the name of your new district and submit a new application in order for you to continue receiving the great ATPE membership benefits on which you’ve come to rely.
Also: The updated 2010-11 ATPE online membership application is now available at www.atpe.org/JoinATPE. Here you’ll also find a PDF version you can print to mail in with your payment or choose the payroll deduction option.
ATPE Book of the Month Club and Guest Reader program
Want to encourage your students to read for leisure and get more out of their reading? ATPE chooses one book a month from each of three reading lists compiled by the Texas Library Association and provides printable questions you can use with students for reflection or discussion. We’ll also link you to the Texas Library Association’s selections for preschool through grade 2.
Teachers: Are you interested in reading one of the 2010-11 ATPE Book of the Month Club selections with your class? ATPE will select one teacher/class per grade level/category each month to read an upcoming book selection and create discussion questions for the selection. This is a great opportunity to engage your students in higher-order thinking skills. We’ll post a picture of the class on our website along with the discussion questions you’ve created, and we’ll send you a free copy of the book! Your class will also receive a special certificate upon completion. If you are interested in this valuable learning experience, please e-mail prof_dev@atpe.org.
Sign up today to reserve your spot as one of ATPE’s Guest Readers for 2010-11. Positions are going fast!
