Standing Committees

Bylaws—Seven members meet
in April to propose amendments to the ATPE state bylaws.

Leader Development—Members meet in October to review and make recommendations regarding association programs related to the identification, recruitment, training, maintenance and recognition of ATPE's volunteer leader corps.

Legislative—Twenty members (one per region) meet in
October to review the ATPE Legislative Program and to propose positions to present to the
Texas Legislature, U.S. Congress, boards and agencies.

Membership—Twenty members
(one per region) meet in October to discuss and review the membership
recruitment program and materials.

Minority and Diverse Population Recruitment—Seven members meet in
October to evaluate and recommend programs used to recruit urban-area educators, ethnic
minorities, new teachers and student teachers.

Nomination/Election—Seven
members meet in October to review the election rules and receive
nominations for state offices. They assist with the verification of
delegates and the election process of state officers at the ATPE Summit.

Public Information—Seven
members meet in April to review ATPE publications, the website and media coverage.
They review the finalists for the Alafair Hammett Media Award and
recommend winners.

Resolutions—Nine members
meet in April to review and/or propose resolutions to be considered by
the House of Delegates.

Services—Five members
meet in October to review the current services and discounts program and
make recommendations for future services and discounts.
