Special Committees

• Scholarship—Seven members meet at Leader U to select recipients of the Barbara Jordan Memorial Scholarship and the Fred Wiesner Educational Excellence Scholarship.
• Educator of the Year (EOY)—Seven members review applications for the EOY awards. They meet at the state convention to interview the finalists and select the recipients.
• Leader of the Year—Seven members score applications for the Local Unit of the Year and Campus Representative of the Year and select the finalists. They interview the finalists and select the winners at Leader U.
• Grant for Teaching Excellence (GTE)—Seven members score applications for the GTE awards and select the finalists. Committee members also interview the finalists and select the elementary and secondary winner at the state convention.
• Political Action Committee—Five members meet at least once per year to review ATPE’s political action committee (PAC) activities and to select the recipient of the Sam Houston Award for Political Involvement.
